Goal Setting Tip: Pace Yourself!


Western Culture wants everything bigger and better. We’re conditioned to think of success as who has most impressive collection of stuff (or biggest word count) in the shortest amount of time.  We think, “Set the bar as high as you can to succeed!” Well, that’s great for a sprint, but not for a marathon.  Athletes, musicians, visual artists, all learn how to pace themselves. If you try to perform at peak levels every day, you’ll exhaust yourself.  You need to learn to be in it for the long haul. Set a goal slightly higher than what you’re comfortable reaching for.  Work at it until you make it, then celebrate your success!
